Sensing Magic (3rd-5th) a 4-page (2 pages front and back) Story Sheet reviews the sensory words in Anne Ursu’s The Real Boy, and asks students to consider how they change when the mood of the story changes. Then it asks students to write a story about a character encountering magic for the first time. The Story Sheet is FREE, and works best after you have read the book.

 

Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin by Leisl Shurtliff

In Back Together Again (3rd-5th), students re-tell a classic Nursery Rhyme, Humpty Dumpty, while evaluating how Leisl Shurtliff re-told Rumpelstiltskin in Rump: the True Story of Rumpelstiltskin. The Story sheet is FREE.

 

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate

Animal Transitions (3rd-5th) This one page (front and back) sheet provides story starters, word lists and brainstorming activities for third through fifth graders.
